To help the chicken develop that delicious orange flavour, it is suggested to marinade the chicken in the Seville Orange sauce for up to 1-hour before cooking it. This will allow all of the flavours from the Seville Orange sauce to absorb into the chicken giving it a deeper, fuller flavour. This step isn’t necessary, but it will improve the orange taste of the chicken. For the sauce:
4 Tbsp Crofter’s Organic Seville Orange Just Fruit Spread
¾ Cup fresh squeezed Orange Juice
2 Tbsp Granulated Sugar
1 Tbsp Cornstarch
1 Tbsp Hoisin Sauce
1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
2 Tbsp White Vinegar
1 Tbsp Orange Zest
For the Chicken:
2 Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts cut into ½ inch pieces
¼ Tsp Salt
¼ Tsp Pepper
3 Tbsp Olive Oil
Green Onion for garnish
Sesame Seed for garnish
- First, start by cutting your chicken into ½ inch bite sized pieces. Set aside. Next prepare the orange sauce. Whisk together the orange juice, sugar, cornstarch, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, orange zest and Crofter’s Organic Seville Orange Just Fruit Spread in a large bowl. Set aside.
- Next, heat the olive oil in a pan or skillet. Add in the chicken and cook over medium-high heat for 10-15 minutes until the chicken is a golden-brown colour and cooked all the way through.
- Add the orange sauce to the chicken in the pan but before you add it drain out any extra oil that may be left in the pan from cooking the chicken. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring often until the sauce has thickened.
- Serve over a bed of noodles or rice and garnish with fresh green onion and sesame seeds.
