Simple Black Currant Mojito

It’s 5 o’ clock somewhere, right? We took the classic mojito and put our own Crofter’s Organic spin on it and came up with this delicious summer-felt simple Black Currant Mojito recipe. Is there a better cocktail then an ice-cold mojito? Highly debatable. This cocktail has a lot in common with the classic mojito, the lime wedge, the mint, and the rum—the curveball is our Crofter’s Black Currant Just Fruit Spread. The tart flavor of the black currants adds a unique and invigorating twist to a classic. The best part is, all you have to do is scoop it from the jar and mix it in—that’s pretty easy, right? This recipe also works great as a batch in a pitcher or punch bowl for summer BBQ parties! Simply, multiply the ingredients to achieve as many servings as you’d like to make. Combine the lime juice, sugar, Crofter’s Black Currant spread and rum in pitcher, then fill half way with ice. Muddle mint leaves in a mortar and pestle or in a bowl, add to pitcher. Give it all a good mix and then top up with ice and soda.



  1. Combine the Caster Sugar, 1-2 Fresh Mint Leaves, Fresh Juice from 1-2 Lime wedges and Crofter’s Organic Black Currant Just Fruit spread in to a small bowl and mix lightly. Just enough to break down the mint leaves to release their flavor.
  2. Remove the leaves and place the Black Currant mixture in to the bottom of a Collins glass.
  3. Fill the glass half way with crushed ice and pour the Rum over the ice.
  4. Add more crushed ice to fill the glass and top with soda or tonic water. Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint. Enjoy!
