Cider is one of those beverages that is so comforting and has a good way of bringing people together over the holiday season. However, let’s not kid ourselves, our easy Blackberry & Apple Mulled Cider recipe can be made and drank year-round. Think about how refreshing this yummy recipe would be in the summer if you chilled it first and then served it over ice in a tall glass. Delicious! Once you have our Blackberry & Apple Mulled Cider made, you can keep it in the refrigerator for up to a week or if you have an air-tight, freezer safe container you can keep it stored for up to 3-months in the freezer. Because our recipe can be frozen, this recipe becomes just that much more convenient. Take some stress off yourself when hosting an event and make it in advance, then simply take it out from the freezer and thaw it to have homemade cider whenever you need it!
8 Cups Organic Apple Cider
1 Jar of Crofter’s Seedless Blackberry Premium Fruit Spread
6 Cinnamon Sticks
½ tsp. Ground Cinnamon
2 Star Anise
½ Cup Fresh Blackberries
Fresh Rosemary (Garnish)
Fresh Blackberries (Garnish)
- In a large sauce pot over low-medium heat, combine all of the ingredients and gently stir with a wooden spoon. Note: Set aside a few fresh blackberries to use as garnish before adding all them in to the cider mixture.
- Bring the cider to a simmer or light boil while still stirring often.
- Once the cider has begun to boil, reduce heat to low and let simmer for anywhere between 1-4 hours. The longer you let your cider mixture simmer, the more flavourful it becomes.
- If you don’t have that much time, you only really need to simmer until the fresh blackberries begin to change colour. You will notice them turning a bright red/orange colour.
- Remove from heat and strain the cider mixture through a fine strainer, discard and remove any chunks. Pour your Blackberry & Apple Cider into some old-fashioned glasses and garnish with a sprig of fresh rosemary and fresh blackberries.
