Our Story

The Crofter's Organic story began in a small town in Northern Ontario where our founder Gerhard Latka started making organic fruit spreads in 1989 before organic was even a thing.

From the beginning it was all about real fruit, better for you nutrition and great taste. When you grow up in Germany at the family flavour house you better believe the fruit spreads are going to taste amazing!

Decades later (double that in bear years) crofter's Organic and the latka family keep spreading the goodness of real fruit to families across North America and the world.

Then and Now

1989

With a love of nature and adventure, Gerhard founded Crofter's Organic in the small town of Parry Sound in Northern Ontario Canada and began making organic fruit spreads with the belief that nutritious, organic food should be accessible to all.

2009

Bear is born. His expertise and eye for the ripest of berries help the family launch the Superfruit line. Soon Bear would be found on every jar of Crofter's Organic fruit spread.

Today

Decades later, Crofter's Organic remains a core part of the Parry Sound community and the Latka family has spread (literally) the best tasting fruit spreads to families throughout North America and the world.
